Voor deze tweede expositie van Young Collectors tonen Johan Delcour (BE, 1970) en Monia Warnez (BE, 1974) een gedeelte van hun collectie. Delcour en Warnez zijn in het dagelijks leven eigenaar van fotolab Fotorama. Als curator waren zij verantwoordelijk voor de expositie Amusez Vous in Galerie Koal (Berlijn), over de betekenis van entertainment in onze huidige samenleving (met werk van o.a. Stephan Balleux, Wesley Meuris en Michael Aerts). Dit jaar stellen ze een expositie samen voor het Internationaal Fotofestival in Knokke-Heist, met werk van fotografen die op een individuele en boeiende manier omgaan met de commerciële illusie zoals geschetst door de reclamewereld. In Sign tonen Delcour en Warnez werk van: Jana Gunstheimer (DE), Michaël Aerts (BE), Sascha Weidner (DE), Artists Anonymous, (DE/GB), Norbert Bisky (DE), Léon Vranken (BE), Anneke Eussen (NL), Kati Heck (BE/DE) Adam Leech (BE/USA), Léopold Rabus (CH), Joris Van de Moortel (BE), Veronica Brovall (SE), Stephan Balleux (BE).

Najaar 2009 en voor -en najaar 2010

Serie van 3 exposities met werk uit de collecties van 4 jonge collectioneurs uit Duitsland, Belgie en Nederland, inclusief lezingen, symposium, discussies en “meet & greet”. Over de plaats, functie en betekenis van jonge verzamelaars in de kunstwereld.
Young Collectors wordt georganiseerd door curatoren Lennard Dost en Mare van Koningsveld in samenwerking met SIGN.

Young collectors stelt de verzamelaar (tot 40 jaar) zelf centraal met aandacht voor diens collectie en zienswijze en de context waarbinnen hij opereert.
De selectie van verzamelaars geeft een goed divers beeld met een internationale een dimensie.

Wie zijn dat eigenlijk, die jonge verzamelaars, en hoe verhouden zij zich tot het museum, de galerie en het ideële kunstinitiatief?
Hoe zien hun collecties eruit, wat drijft hen tot hun keuzes? Wat is hun invloed? Welke netwerken gebruiken ze, wat is de dynamiek en communicatie?
“Young Collectors” laat de jonge verzamelaar aan het woord en geeft inzicht in zijn wereld.

Young Collectors #1: Christian Schwarm 17 oktober t/m 14 november 2009.

Opening: 17 oktober - 17:00h - SIGN (Winschoterkade 10, Groningen)

In de eerste expositie staat de collectie van Christian Schwarm (Stuttgart, 1972) centraal. Schwarm geeft in het dagelijks leven leiding aan een marketingbureau met vestigingen in Stuttgart en Berlijn. Hij stond vorig jaar aan de basis van Independent Collectors ( www.independent-collectors.com ), een grote internationale online community voor verzamelaars van hedendaagse kunst. Op dit snelgroeiende platform kunnen verzamelaars met elkaar kennismaken, galeries beoordelen en informatie uitwisselen. Sinds de opening in 2008 op Art Basel hebben zich inmiddels ca. 2200 verzamelaars uit 75 landen aangemeld.

Christian Schwarm heeft een uitgesproken visie en een interessante internationale collectie.
In Sign toont hij werk van Peter Piller, Haegue Yang, Hubert Dobler, David Horvitz en Fiona Banner.

Tsjalling Venema interviewt Christian Schwarm en Tommi Brem:

Zaterdag 17 oktober, 15:00 uur, Singelzaal in het Frank Mohr Instituut (Radesingel 6, Groningen).

Christian Schwarm en Independent Collectors collega Tommi Brem zullen in een interview met kunstverzamelaar Tsjalling Venema (Amsterdam, 1976) uitweiden over hun verzamelingen en het functioneren van de Independent Collectors community. Ook wordt gesproken over het verzamelaarsklimaat in Duitsland, over de veranderende relatie tussen verzamelaar en galeriewezen en het Collector’s Duel (een initiatief van Independent Collectors waarbij verzamelaars kunst onderling kunnen ruilen.)

YOUNG COLLECTORS

October 2009, spring & fall 2010

A series of three exhibitions with works from the collections of four young collectors from Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands, including lectures, symposium, discussions and meet & greet, about the function and meaning of young collectors and their approach towards collecting and the art-world. Young Collectors is curated by Lennard Dost, Mare van Koningsveld in coorporation with Sign.

With Young Collectors the collector himself (under 40) will be in the limelight. The project pays attention to his collection, his point of view and the context in which he operates. The selection of collectors gives an interesting idea of diversity with an international dimension.

Who are these young collectors? What do their collections look like, what motivates their choices. What is their influence, what is the dynamic and communication? How do they relate to a museum, a gallery or the idealistic art-initiative? “Young Collectors” lets the collector speak for himself and gives an insight in his world.

YOUNG COLLECTORS #1: CHRISTIAN SCHWARM

17th October through 14th November 2009

Opening: 17 October, 17.00 hrs, Sign (Winschoterkade 10, Groningen, Netherlands)

In the first exhibition the focus will be on the collection of Christian Schwarm (Stuttgart, 1972)

In daily life Schwarm manages a marketing-business with offices in Stuttgart and Berlin. Last year he was the initiator of Independentcollectors.com, a big international on-line community for collectors of modern and contemporary art which was released on June 4 2008 at Art Basel. It is a platform where collectors can get to know each other, share their opinions on galleries and exchange information.. That appeared to be bang on the target. Meanwhile around 2200 collectors from 75 countries have subscribed themselves from all over the world.

Schwarm has an outspoken view and an interesting international collection of contemporary art. In SIGN he will show works of Fiona Banner, Haegue Yang, Peter Piller, Hubert Dobler, David Horvitz.

Interview by Tsjalling Venema with Christian Schwarm and Tommi Brem:

Saturday 17th October, 15.00 hrs., Singelzaal in the Frank Mohr Instituut (Radesingel 6, Groningen).

Christian Schwarm and colleague Tommi Brem will tell extensively and critically talk about the how and why of their collections and functioning of the active community Independent Collectors in an interview with art collector Tsjalling Venema (Amsterdam, 1976). Also they will talk about the climate for collectors in Germany, Collectors' Duel (mutual exchange of art-pieces) and the relation in that with artists and galleries.
